I got another FAKE marketing email.March 13, 2017
Social Media is the greatest gathering place of humans on the planet.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, these have all become virtual arenas that businesses all over the world have learned to tame to their advantage? So, why not you? Why not your business?
When it comes to social media, it’s best to think of it as the world’s largest cocktail party. It is full of people from all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds, mingling together in a social atmosphere. So what do you do at a cocktail party? How do you network in person? Social media interaction is no different.
At a cocktail party, you strike up a conversation with someone over a topic that might be current or interesting. Creating what is known as an “engagement post” is the same basic idea. You throw out a post on your page, maybe one that asks a question that has nothing to do with your business, because you want people to interact. You want their attention. You want them to follow.

At a cocktail party, this can evolve into the question of, “So, what do you do?” Posting industry specific blogs or posts with links to your website establishes you to your market. “This is who I am. This is what I do. This is what I CAN do for you.”
So maybe that person you’re speaking with doesn’t have a need for your services. They walk off and talk to someone else, who actually may need what you’re offering. They might then refer that person across the room to speak with you. In terms of social media, this would be someone sharing your page or post with a friend, getting you business through a referral.
If you’re not broadcasting your company on social media, you’re leaving a lot of untapped potential on the table. So dress up your page, throw on some interesting art, put your best copy forward, and step into the global cocktail party!
